The concept of sustainability has become a philosophy adopted in the tourism sector and destinations as in many areas of daily life. This concept and philosophy are also frequently discussed in scientific research and academic studies. This study aims to examine the development process of the academic work done on the topic of sustainable tourism in Turkey and to do the bibliometric analysis of the graduate theses published in the topic of sustainable tourism in order to contribute to the literature. In this context, the graduate theses (310 numbers) published in the topic of “sustainable tourism” in the Council of Higher Education National Thesis Center Database (YÖKTEZ) between 1994 and 15 May 2020 were analyzed bibliometrically. The bibliometric analysis of academic studies is based on the numerical analysis of the publications produced by individuals or institutions in a certain area or subject in a certain period and in a specific region and of the relations between these publications. As a result of the analysis; it has been determined that the graduate theses on the topic of “sustainable tourism” in YÖKTEZ were mostly published in 2019 (19%), at the graduate level (74%) and in the field of tourism (72%). These theses were mostly written under the guidance of professors (45%), at Dokuz Eylül (8%) and Gazi (7%) universities, at the social sciences institutes (73%) and at the departments of tourism management (45%). They were mostly written in Turkish (92%) and the majority of them (61%) were in the range of 101-200 pages. 37% of them were prepared by using quantitative methods and 35% of them were prepared by using traditional survey technique. The 39 theses destinations in Turkey and 84 theses have been prepared in ecotourism and sustainable tourism policies and plans topics. 44% of these theses were applied to a sample volume of 0-50 and 26% of them were written by reading the sources in the range of 51-100 numbers.
