A Scientific Learning Environment with Educational Games

In this study, the effects of teaching using educational games to classify the creatures developed by researchers in science teaching, the students' attitudes towards science courses and their academic achievement were examined. The research was carried out on an experimental model with pre-test and post-test control groups. The data of the work which was carried out with the 5th grade students who continue to Erzincan province Üzümlü İmam Hatip Secondary School were collected in a period of twelve hours in the second semester of 2016-2017 academic year. The Science Achievement Test and the Science Score Attitude Scale (SSAS), prepared by the researchers in line with the relevant achievements on the subject of "Getting to Know the Living Things" of the 5th Grade Science Class, were applied as data collection tools before the beginning of the teaching. SPSS 20.00 package program was used to solve the data. Statistical analyses such as T-test, arithmetic average (x), standard deviation (S), frequency (f) and percentage (%) were used in statistical analysis. It was determined that there was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores of the students in the experimental groups for both scales used. It can be said according to the obtained results that education made with educational game changed positively the attitudes of the students towards the academic achievements and the science lessons.
