Abstract


The Effect of Student Achievement in Cognitive Level of Peer Teaching Methods in Science Teaching

The aim of this study is to determine the effects to their achievement in the cognitive level the method of peer teaching of students in the science course and students' ideas for peer teaching method. Research control group is organized according to quasi-experimental design. For this purpose, in the 2015-2016 academic year, it was carried out in two primary schools with medium economic income in Kastamonu and Erzurum. In the study to measure the success of the cognitive level of students as a data collection tool consists of 20 items and Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.86, which Science Course to detect Achievement Test and affective skills of the science courses attitude scale, open-ended questions and semi-structured interview technique was used. In this study, 42 in the experimental group, 44 in the control group has been involved in a total of 86 students. In the experimental group peer teaching method is used, the control group is used traditional teacher-centered teaching methods. The data obtained from the studies, independent groups t-test using SPSS 20.0 software, test with two-way analysis of variance and the methods of frequency distribution analysis were analyzed. Research result has revealed that, primary school students of the peer education approach to science that improves the achievement of the course, cooperation and harmonious workings of his behavior between students and positive thoughts about the peer teaching method has been reached.
