The Importance of Natural Lighting in the Design of Health Buildings: Sample of Şanlıurfa/Muradiye Family Health Center

Health services are one of the areas of work that pose significant risks to health and safety. The first goal of the health care sector is primarily the health and safety of the personnel through the protection, promotion, maintenance of the health, the treatment of the diseases and the rehabilitation services. The health workers feel safe and secure in the institution that they work during the health service delivery, affecting the health care service levels positively. Therefore, safety in health services is at the forefront of the issues that need to be meticulously addressed. Healthcare workers are often confronted with accidents and injuries in the transfer of patients and in some manual interventions. The accidents and injuries are also caused by the physical structure of the institution. . One of these physical risk issues is the lighting. A sufficient level of lighting for the employees is required in order to find them in a comfortable and luminous environment and also work more willingly. The use of sunlight at an adequate level should be considered as the basis for illuminating the workplace. The aim of this research is to evaluate the natural illumination of family medicine outpatient clinics in Şanlıurfa Muradiye Family Health Center in terms of ergonomic factors and to examine how patients and doctors are affected without illumination by conducting a questionnaire survey. Within the scope of the study, natural and artificial lighting are different in terms of ergonomic factors; artificial lighting has negative effects on patients in terms of ergonomics, and problems that arising from illumination are influenced by assumptions that hospital workers have negative effects on their business life. In the first chapter, the concept and history of ergonomics, the concept of anthropometry; the nature of health care facilities, ergonomics in hospitals, lighting and ergonomics of enlightenment in the design of hospital buildings are evaluated. For this purpose, firstly some sample works have been given. Then four outpatient clinics located in different directions in Şanlıurfa Muradiye Family Health Center, which is considered as field work, were examined. Functional diagrams of these policlinics were prepared and the direction factor was taken into consideration. Then natural lighting evaluation was interpreted by conducting a questionnaire to 60 users between 6- 20 March 2017 at 09: 00-12: 00, 14: 00-17: 00 hours. In addition, in the outpatient clinics examined in the study, the daylight brightness level measurements are repeated on a certain day of each month (21) for 6 months (June 2017, July 2017, August 2017, September 2017, October 2017, November 2017) taking into account the daylight time application at 9.00, 12.00 and 15.00 (standard country time), which is assumed to effectively use of daylight. The measurements on the points are made separately for situations where sunlight comes and does not come. Evaluation daylight brightness level measurements have not been completed yet, so ergonomic lighting recommendations are presented based on user satisfaction of survey reviews.
